AI-Powered Vertical Streaming, Open Captions and Grabyo Live: What’s New at NAB 2026?

At NAB 2026, Grabyo will be returning to Las Vegas to introduce a series of updates across its cloud-native video platform.

Over the past year, the way live content is produced and distributed has continued to evolve. A single live moment now needs to move quickly between formats, platforms and audiences, often within seconds of the action happening.

In response, Grabyo has been expanding the platform with new capabilities across live production, AI-powered vertical video and faster social publishing workflows.

Here’s what’s new.

Faster, smarter reframing for every format

Your audience is everywhere. Your content should be, too.

A live moment might need to be published as a broadcast highlight, a square clip for social, and a vertical video optimised for mobile, often within minutes of the action happening. Until now, that has meant moving between tools, manually cropping frames and reworking edits for each platform. .

Grabyo’s new reframing toolkit is designed to remove that friction.

Editors can convert horizontal (16:9) clips into vertical or square formats directly within the platform, using AI-assisted tracking and data-driven keyframing to focus on the key subject as the action moves. Manual controls are still there when needed, but enhanced with AI automation support.

By integrating these editorial controls directly into the clipping workflow, Grabyo is removing the technical friction between the live broadcast and social video – meaning more engagement for content owners and a better experience for fans.

Captions, built into the live workflow

For many audiences, making content accessible via captions is a requirement, not an enhancement.

Historically, the process of adding captions has introduced significant friction to live workflows. Editors have been forced to export clips to external tools, wait for generation, and style text before a final re-upload. A delay that, while small, creates a cumulative bottleneck during high-pressure live events.

With open captions now built into Grabyo’s live clipping interface, that friction is removed.

Captions can be generated, styled and burned into clips as part of the clipping and publishing process. Editors can prepare content for distribution in a single workflow, without switching tools or slowing down turnaround times.

From editing for vertical to producing for vertical

Vertical video is no longer just a post-production format, it’s becoming part of live production itself.

This shift is reflected in Grabyo’s integration with AWS Elemental Inference.

For the first time, introducing AI-driven processing into the live broadcast pipeline means producers can generate vertical video outputs directly from live program feeds. Using AI optical tracking, the system identifies the primary subject within a broadcast frame and automatically reframes it for vertical viewing.

This means a single production can generate both traditional 16:9 feeds and vertical outputs simultaneously, without creating complex, costly workflows for 9:16 streaming.

For teams distributing across platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X, it enables vertical streams produced for mobile, social feeds can be delivered in real time, not recreated after the fact.

Grabyo Live: a breakthrough model for cloud production

Modern production infrastructure is no longer defined by fixed hardware and capacity limits, but by its ability to scale on demand.

As events grow in complexity, teams require a production environment that is inherently flexible, scalable, and instantly deployable across diverse distribution requirements.

Grabyo Live is built specifically to address this shift.

Representing the next evolution of Grabyo’s cloud-native ecosystem, the platform introduces a browser-based architecture that enables the rapid deployment of fully configured production control rooms. By utilizing customizable templates for roles, permissions, and outputs, teams can now tailor their entire production stack to the specific needs of any event in real time.

This browser-based architecture integrates live feed switching, real-time multiviewer capabilities, and ISO recording into a unified workflow, bypassing the logistical hurdles of traditional on-premise hardware. By allowing producers to configure bespoke outputs and encodes on the fly, the platform provides an elastic production environment that scales to meet the demands of any event, regardless of its location or complexity. This shift toward a browser-based “control room as a service” allows teams to focus on the output rather than the infrastructure for live video broadcasting.

Built for multi-destination production

Grabyo Live eliminates the need for parallel production setups. One cloud video platform, unlimited destinations.

As live workflows become increasingly complex, Grabyo Live provides a single point of control for multi-platform distribution. Instead of recreating content for each outlet, teams can produce multiple variants, including different audio tracks and encoding settings, within a single workflow.

Whether delivering a master broadcast feed or a localized stream for YouTube and TikTok, Grabyo ensures every platform receives an optimized, high-quality output from a single source. By integrating support for audio-only streams, intercom workflows, and independent audio mixes, teams can now publish tailored variants for localization or alternative commentary, within a unified environment. This removes the need for expensive, parallel production setups, allowing a single team to manage a truly global distribution strategy.

Shared infrastructure across teams and workflows

As productions scale, so does the need for shared access to media, tools and cloud infrastructure.

Grabyo Live streamlines the media lifecycle through centralized production asset management and API-driven orchestration.

To meet the demands of large-scale media organizations, Grabyo Live has introduced a centralized cloud file system that enables instant media asset access across multiple productions. This “no-duplication” model significantly reduces storage overhead and fine-grained access controls ensure content is always available where it’s needed most.

Simultaneously, robust API support allows for remote orchestration and integration with third-party scheduling and automation tools. This makes Grabyo Live a highly adaptable component of the broader media supply chain, capable of fitting into complex, pre-existing production environments with minimal friction. Grabyo Live acts as a flexible extension of a company’s existing media operations, rather than a standalone tool.

Designed for control, at scale

Scaling production shouldn’t mean scaling chaos.

The transition to cloud-native workflows has historically challenged the way teams manage roles and permissions across concurrent events. Grabyo Live solves this through a centralized administrative layer, allowing for the precise allocation of resources and access.

The upgrade supports fine-grained roles and permissions, allowing administrators to control exactly what each user can access or manage. A user might have full control over one production while only contributing clips or assets in another.

Whether it’s monitoring real-time performance or managing advanced encoding profiles, the platform is built to handle the heavy lifting of enterprise-grade broadcasting. By integrating ISO recording and expanded ingest capabilities into a unified, permission-based environment, Grabyo ensures that even the most complex productions remain manageable and secure.

Bringing cloud flexibility to broadcast workflows

Modern production no longer requires a trade-off between flexibility and control.

Grabyo Live bridges the gap between the speed of the cloud and the demands of professional broadcasting. It provides a singular environment where teams can launch, adapt, and scale live events with unprecedented speed.

By centralizing the entire production lifecycle, from ingest and switching to multi-format delivery, Grabyo ensures that production eams can launch live events in minutes, adapt workflows on the fly and deliver to multiple destinations, all from a single, unified cloud platform.
