Grabyo brings vertical and square editing to social video industry

Today we are excited to announce a major update to Grabyo Studio that allows content publishers to create, edit and share videos in square and vertical formats to multiple social media platforms in real-time.

With this latest addition to Grabyo Studio, content producers are better positioned to reach the 1.4billion monthly active Facebook users and 316million Twitter users. Vertical video has gained momentum throughout 2015 with many claiming it to be a the future video format on social media yet with our latest technology – vertical video has arrived. Led by the dominance of Snapchat, which has championed vertical video in reaching its mobile-only, primary millennial audience, vertical content is now growing significantly across all social media platforms.

To solve the problem that publishers faced in being unable to share content efficiently in different video formats, Grabyo has introduced unique editing tools. Grabyo’s latest release allows for editing standard 16:9 (horizontal) into 9:16 (vertical) and 1:1 (square) formats. Grabyo customers can take any horizontal video, or clip from a live feed, and create a seamless vertical or square edit in seconds.

By the end of 2015, mobile views are predicted to account for more than 50% of all online video plays and this is expected to increase by a further 20% in 2016. In addition, 45% of consumers aged 16-24 are more likely to use their smartphone to watch video than a set-top box, supporting the trend for users consuming video in mobile-optimised video formats such as square and vertical.

Taking up significantly more screen space than horizontal content, vertical and square videos are proven to drive engagement with Snapchat CEO, Evan Spiel, indicating vertical videos performed 9x better than horizontal videos on Snapchat.
