Grabyo to launch AI sports clipping workflow at NAB 2024

The new service will use computer vision and machine learning to create highlights from live broadcasts.

We are excited to announce we will debut our AI-powered live clipping and highlights service at NAB 2024.

Our AI clipping workflow has been built in partnership with Magnifi, the automated highlights generation platform, to provide video editors with an AI co-pilot for identifying, logging and publishing highlights from live streams.

We announced this strategic partnership at IBC 2023 and are now bringing this joint solution to market following the product integration.

This solution aims to address the existing challenges with traditional automated highlights workflows, with an emphasis on storytelling and multi-event coverage for editors.

Grabyo's AI sports clipping workflow

Automated highlight data is generated by Magnifi’s platform using custom cues, which are created using machine learning to identify key moments unique to each sport. Once a cue is activated during a live stream, the data is sent to our live clipping platform to automatically log the highlight as a segment with rich metadata in the stream’s DVR.

With highlights identified and logged by AI, content teams can streamline their workflow while retaining editorial control. This moderation layer ensures higher-quality output across social and digital platforms, with distribution to owned CMS and MAM systems. The service can operate across multiple events simultaneously, with individual users able to view up to nine live streams with automated clips, events and compilations generated in real-time.

Gareth Capon, Grabyo

“Introducing automation to live editing workflows can significantly increase your output, but too often we’re seeing a drop in the quality of videos being published. We’re focused on harnessing AI to empower storytelling, giving editors the tools to scale their output without compromising on quality and reach audiences across every possible platform. We’re excited to bring this first step to the market, but it’s only the beginning. We have ambitious plans to develop our partnership with Magnifi and deliver even more value with human-centered, AI-assisted video production.”

Gareth Capon, CEO, Grabyo

“Combining Magnifi’s market-leading AI technology with Grabyo’s leading clipping and editing software is a perfect fit to create a powerful and seamless workflow for sports media organizations. Our shared mission is to create seamless processes that enable editors and content creators to produce quality content better, faster and at scale. We also want to make AI more accessible across the sports industry, and by focusing on leveraging the strengths of automation combined with creative storytelling, we are adding real value to existing production workflows.”

Vinayak Shrivastav, CEO and Founder, Magnifi

Grabyo will be in booth W1149, and Magnifi in booth W1159, in the West Hall at NAB 2024.
