Grabyo to launch AI highlights, automated live captions and DVR playout at IBC 2024
We are excited to announce that at IBC 2024, we will launch a new AI-powered highlights solution for live clipping, alongside AI-powered live captioning, time-shifted DVR playout and a new gateway application for live production workflows.
AI live captioning
Our new automated live captions feature uses speech-to-text AI to generate closed captions, in real time, for live broadcast outputs in any supported format -including SRT, Zixi, RIST, RTMP and RTP. Our users also have the ability to transport video securely using AWS Elemental MediaConnect.
DVR playout
Another live production update for Grabyo Producer at the show this year will be DVR playout. This gives users more control over the playback and distribution of live feeds, such as ISOs or main outputs. While broadcasting live, production teams can select any moment in the live recordings of any video source and bring it into the control room for vision mixing and playout.
Popular use cases for DVR playout are to delay playout of a broadcast, replay previous segments of a broadcast or incoming camera feed, or replay previous segments with new angles using various ISOs. Our video marker functionality allows production teams to drop markers in the DVRs of their ISOs and main output throughout a live production, then select these markers to begin time-shifted playout.
This new service replicates the functionality in traditional TV galleries where incoming video feeds are recorded locally for live playback, with extended capability and unlimited capacity in the cloud.

Producer Gateway: Desktop application
At IBC 2024 we will also debut our first desktop software application, Producer Gateway. The gateway application will serve as a bridge to local IP networks for production teams. For security reasons, browser-based applications cannot access all devices, equipment and peripherals on a local network, which limits production integration for some TV galleries or venues.
We have developed our gateway app to allow production teams to securely connect all local production equipment to the Grabyo cloud ecosystem, at ultra low-latency. Producer Gateway will open opportunities for production teams to connect tools such as tally lights for local cameras and utilize a wider range of input devices and hardware control surfaces with two-way integrations.
AI highlights and live clipping
Our new AI highlights solution extends our current automated event-based logging functionality, giving our users the ability to automate the creation of highlights packages for up to 50 sports whilst retaining editorial control over publishing.
Using computer vision, key moments are identified by AI and logged in the DVR of each live stream with video markers. Users can select markers for publishing clips instantly, while multiple clips are configured by the AI system, based on editorial guidelines, then automatically populated in a video highlights project. All of our automation workflows are designed to retain editorial control for users, curating content for faster editing and publishing.
Our platform leverages multiple AWS technologies, including Amazon EC2, AWS Fargate, AWS Lambda, AWS Elemental MediaConvert and Amazon S3 for cloud-compute capacity, storage and video processing, powering our proprietary tools. We also offer automated closed captions for video editing, which is built using Amazon Transcribe, offering speech-to-text automation powered by machine learning.
“It’s been another fast-paced year for product updates at Grabyo. Earlier this year we launched the first phase of our AI clipping service with automated event-detection and tagging, now we’re adding automated highlights to help sports organizations scale their video output across all formats. Our live production platform powers alternate broadcasting, event production and digital programming for some of the world’s biggest brands, and with AI-based live captioning and time-shifted playout, our cloud production tools will enhance storytelling, opening up opportunities for localized live content and immersive experiences for audiences everywhere.”
