Netball Australia partners with Grabyo to grow digital presence ahead of broadcast rights switch
The governing body has selected Grabyo’s cloud video platform to engage and build its fan-base across social media platforms.
Netball Australia, the national governing body for netball in Australia, has partnered with Grabyo to bolster its digital presence ahead of the fifth season of Suncorp Super Netball.
Netball Australia recently signed a five-year deal with pay-TV broadcaster Foxtel to host its Suncorp Super Netball series and Diamonds matches on Foxtel’s TV channels and its dedicated streaming service, Kayo Sports, from 2022.
Ahead of Netball Australia’s new media rights deal, it is focused on building a robust multi-platform content strategy to raise the profile of elite Netball across the country.

A 2020 study by YouGov found that over 1/3 of Australian sports fans are using social media to watch sports content, while half of sports fans are looking for more content to watch.
YouGov’s findings conclude that Australian sports consumption across social media now acts as a primary supplement to watching live sport on TV or streaming platforms.
Netball Australia will react to these changing consumption habits by leveraging Grabyo’s remote video production tools to provide live highlights from over 70 Netball matches in its 2021 calendar.
The body will clip, edit and deliver real-time highlights to its social media channels, the Netball Network and Netball Live Official app using Grabyo’s live clipping service.
Existing fans will be able to stay up to date with matches using any device, across whichever social media platform they prefer. Netball Australia will use content to promote its competitions and build awareness to win new fans.
Netball Australia’s team will also utilise Grabyo’s rapid editing platform, Grabyo Editor, to deliver engaging video content throughout the year, with weekly round-up videos and recaps to enrich the experience of following Netball and keep fans engaged outside of matchday.
Grabyo’s cloud-native platform will allow Netball Australia’s production team to work fully remotely and collaboratively from anywhere in the world. The body’s small team will be able to produce quality video content using minimal resource and manpower.
Building a lasting relationship with fans takes time and dedication. Digital consumption has increased dramatically over the past year and with this opportunity comes our ability to adopt new technologies and create more innovative content. We are working hard to build our fanbase and bring more fans than ever into the sport. Our selection of Grabyo as our cloud video production of choice will go a long way in helping us to do that whilst also being more efficient in our production process.”
