PDC chooses Grabyo to deliver World Championship to digital platforms

After replacing SnappyTV with Grabyo, PDC delivered high-quality, near-live highlights throughout the tournament.

Ahead of the 2019/20 PDC World Darts Championship, we partnered with PDC to help deliver a rapid and agile content strategy across its digital channels.

In replacing SnappyTV at the end of 2019, PDC needed a new set of tools with the ability to capture and distribute every twist and turn from the Ally Pally oche.

Using our leading cloud video platform, PDC’s digital team was able to deliver content to fans globally in real-time, across multiple digital and social channels.

Using our flexible, browser-based tools, the PDC was able to react and capture Sherrock’s story all the way to her third-round defeat.

Fallon Sherrock captured the hearts of darts fans by becoming the first woman to win a match at a World Championship in round one. Fallon’s third-round match against Chris Dobey then drew the biggest TV audience ever seen for an afternoon session of the event.

Fans flocked to PDC’s Twitter and Facebook channels to watch highlights of each match. Its most popular clip from across the World Championship – viewed by six million people – was the moment Sherrock won the fourth set against Ted Evetts in her first match, setting up her historic win.

Our lightweight platform enabled PDC to be first-to-market with every clip, ensuring its own channels were the primary destination for darts fans following the action.

PDC used Grabyo Studio to create, edit and distribute its clips. Content producers only needed a laptop and internet connection to deliver clips to mobile, social and OTT platforms in moments. PDC shared just under 1000 clips using Grabyo, achieving over 45M views.

The PDC will continue to use our platform throughout the 2020 season, covering major events such as its Premier League, World Series, and other major TV tournaments.
