How broadcasters and federations used Grabyo during Paris 24

Our platform is used by many of the world’s biggest broadcasters, rights holders and sports federations to deliver live and real-time video to audiences during major events every year.

During Paris 2024, many of our customers took advantage of the flexibility of Grabyo to scale up their output for the three-week event, serving audiences with video content from 329 events across 32 different sports and disciplines.

Here we will explore how these organizations, based across multiple continents, used Grabyo to connect audiences with the universal appeal and excitement of Paris 2024, driving various objectives and brand strategies.

Let’s dive in!

Most users worked in a hybrid set up, with some based at the games in Paris, and some based across the world.

They were able to ingest concurrent live SRT feeds from across multiple events into our live clipping and publishing platform, enabling editors to create and publish clips and highlights from anywhere.

To sustain global reach, a number of regional contractors also delivered localized content to multiple countries across the world.

Editors were able to create clips and highlights instantly, delivering video to YouTube, Instagram and websites using streamlined metadata tagging and publishing workflows.

Our multi-stream live clipping functionality (MLC) allowed social teams to monitor, log and clip from simultaneous live streams to cover simultaneous events across disciplines. Using MLC, they were able to view and clip from simultaneous live feeds, streamlining their workflow and reducing the resource needed for teams to cover multiple events happening at once.

2. Globo drives LatAm viewership with custom cloud video supply chain

Globo is the largest media company in Latin America, with a portfolio across open and pay TV channels, as well as digital products and services that deliver sports, news, and entertainment content.

We partnered with Globo in 2024 and worked closely with its team to build a unique, dedicated workflow for live clipping and video distribution.

During the Paris 24, Globo maximized this workflow to deliver coverage to the Latin American market. Its team ingested five RTMP feeds into our live clipping platform, logging key moments with video markers and creating real-time clips of key moments.

Globo aimed to drive viewership of its Paris 24 coverage across its linear, cable, digital and online platforms by promoting its services with highlights across social media.

Its team created clips optimized for horizontal and vertical viewing, delivered directly to X, Facebook and Instagram from Grabyo.

Globo also uses Grabyo to serve highlights and clips across its website, OTT services and mobile app. Once clips and highlights are created, they are then published to these platforms through an integration between Grabyo and Globo’s media processing systems.

Once video clips reach Globo’s system, they are automatically stored, categorized and published to the relevant destination. This significantly reduces the time it takes for live content to be clipped and made accessible to audiences across various Globo properties, enabling its team to seamlessly scale the volume of content it produced during Paris 24.

3. Mediacorp delivers real-time content and highlights packages to its social media audience

Mediacorp, Singapore’s largest content creator and national media network, augmented its Paris 24 live coverage with our live clipping and live streaming tools to bring magic moments from the games to audiences on every platform.

Mediacorp delivered live coverage from across every discipline of Paris 24 on its OTT platform, meWatch. Viewers were able to choose between simultaneous events taking place and experience Paris 24 live.

To extend its coverage and drive viewers to meWatch, Mediacorp’s team used Grabyo to deliver real-time clips and live streams to social media.

The broadcaster’s digital team of 45 people, composed of specialist content managers across all social media channels alongside freelancers, were based in Paris for the duration of the games.

The team ingested 16 live broadcast feeds into Grabyo, with 2 editors assigned to each feed for clipping and highlights creation in horizontal, square and vertical format.

To create highlights packages, each user dropped markers in the live DVR recording of their designated event, then sent multiple segments to Grabyo Editor to refine and craft extended packages for enhanced storytelling.

The content managers for each of Mediacorp’s TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts were then able to access individual clips and packages produced by the team to publish to their respective platforms.

Mediacorp also used Grabyo Producer to stream select live events to YouTube.

Mediacorp also took advantage of the elastic scaling capabilities of cloud production – temporarily extending its storage of DVR recordings to retrieve content from the entirety of Paris 24 for editing.
