NextGen NZ Championship adopts Grabyo in innovative distribution model

We are excited to announce the NextGen NZ Championship has chosen our platform to power real-time video distribution within its dynamic new distribution model, which aims to bring a range of fan-first motorsports experiences to audiences across New Zealand.

NextGen NZ Championships has opted to create a direct distribution workflow in partnership with Stuff, one of New Zealand’s premier digital publishers. Bypassing traditional linear broadcasting, and its potential restrictions, will give the Championship more flexibility and control to deliver fan-centric storytelling across digital platforms.

Multi-platform motorsport coverage

NextGen Motorsport’s 2025 season spans from January 10 to March 24, featuring seven major events. Each race highlights diverse car categories, from classic BMWs to high-performance Formula One-style vehicles, offering something unique for every fan.

The team at Stuff will produce live streams for each race, delivered directly to Stuff’s dedicated OTT platform, Stuff SpeedHub . Fans are then able to access live coverage from anywhere.

NextGen NZ Championship’s digital team will use our live clipping and publishing platform to create video highlights from these live streams in real-time, delivering clips to Facebook and Instagram for fans who aren’t able to watch live.

The clipping team will also deliver clips from Grabyo to the Stuff production team, for use during live race streams.

Cloud-based, real-time video production

The Championship’s digital team will ingest the live race feed and on-board car feeds into Grabyo, where its digital team can access, clip and share content remotely using just a laptop.

Editors will use our multi-stream live clipping functionality to monitor and clip from multiple feeds simultaneously, such as the main feed and onboard cameras, ensuring the team has access to the best angle for every key moment.

Grabyo’s direct publishing integrations with Facebook and Instagram, plus our custom FTP/MAM sharing functionality, ensures the team is first to market with content. Engagement peaks when events are live, and Grabyo will enable the NextGen NZ Championship to own each moment across social media, and serve fans with real time content on Stuff SpeedHub.

Digital-first fan experiences

With approximately 1.4 million Kiwi motorsport enthusiasts, NextGen’s partnership with Stuff and Grabyo ensures these fans can access high-quality content on the platform of their choice.

“Our vision for NextGen Championships is to be sustainable, innovative, and surprising. Motorsport has the power to captivate and engage New Zealanders and we aim to unlock its full potential.

Our partnerships with Stuff and Grabyo have allowed us to create a dynamic distribution model, which will allow us to own our narrative and tell the most engaging stories across every screen. We want to match our output with the fast-paced action of motorsports, bringing the action closer to fans than ever before.”

David Tunnicliffe, Head of Broadcast at NextGen Championships

“With this new offering, NextGen NZ Championships are trailblazing a new era in fan engagement. There are many opportunities for sports organizations and rights holders to capture fans with rich storytelling outside of traditional channels, and our aim at Grabyo is to support the industry to unlock these opportunities. The barriers to entry are falling away and those who don’t take advantage will fall behind.”

Marcello Fabiano, VP Commercial APJ at Grabyo

Next-Gen NZ Championship’s future plans include exploring additional social platforms like TikTok to further expand audience reach, and leveraging Grabyo’s technology for potential all-digital live productions, ensuring broader and more inclusive coverage for fans of all ages.
