LiveU and Grabyo enhance remote production with stream synchronization

Users can now send multiple LiveU streams into Grabyo and synchronize them with frame-accuracy.

Following Grabyo and LiveU’s partnership in 2020, the two have added further stream synchronization capabilities to the solution for live production and streaming.

The joint offering combines Grabyo’s cloud video platform, which includes live broadcasting, editing, and clipping tools, with LiveU’s broadcast-quality live video solutions, ranging from its professional-grade hardware HEVC field units to its LU-Smart app for smartphones.

Grabyo and LiveU have extended the technical integration to allow users to send multiple streams into Grabyo using LiveU field units and mobile apps, and then synchronize each stream with frame-accuracy. This update comes with LiveU’s new firmware 8.6 release.

This enhancement will enable broadcasters and publishers to produce TV quality, multi-camera productions remotely, using minimal equipment and resources. This also offers a unique capability to synchronise streams in the cloud, from multiple locations and devices, without the requirement for on-premise hardware decoders or production equipment.

Camera operators and production teams can create live video without the need for fibre cables or satellite connectivity, capturing content from any location using LiveU’s innovative mobile HEVC field kits. Once the streams are sent to Grabyo, the production team can sync each feed within Grabyo for vision-mixing, live graphics and audio, with program output delivered to multiple platforms at the same time.

For larger productions, Grabyo recently launched its new multiviewer service, which allows users to monitor up to 30 live streams in ultra-low latency in a web-browser. Production teams can also preset scenes and layouts to create a dynamic viewing experience for live broadcasts.
