Grabyo CloudLab: Upskilling women in broadcast and media
To mark International Women’s Day 2023, DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality, we launched Grabyo CloudLab, a program to teach and upskill women within the broadcast and media industry on the power of cloud-native live video production and distribution.
Digital transformation is happening everywhere, not least in the media, entertainment and broadcast sectors, and we’d love to share with women in the industry the power of the cloud so they can start leading and influencing the adoption of this technology within their field.
NAB Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP)
Technology in the broadcasting industry is changing, and it is changing fast. With a rapid audience shift to digital and an increasing need for a more technical workforce, the NAB Leadership Foundation is bridging the gap by offering the Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP), an educational technical program designed to train, inform and recruit a diverse workforce that meets the emerging technology and engineering needs within the broadcasting community.
We are delighted to design and deliver the cloud module course for the 2022-23 TAP program, where the students will learn about cloud-native live video production and the future of broadcasting.
Codebar: Making technology skills more accessible to all
Codebar’s goal is to enable minority group members to learn programming in a safe and collaborative environment and expand their career opportunities. The organization offers regular free workshops and one-off events to create opportunities for its students.
Within Grabyo we have a number of senior engineers who attend Codebar’s workshops as coaches to mentor students in their free time. We have also been hosting workshops at our office in London for over two years, and continue to do so today.
OBS: Building free and open source software for live streaming
The OBS Project is a free and open-source piece of software that allows anyone to live stream or record video using Windows, Mac or Linux. Its users range from eSports streamers to large professional productions.
Contributors submit code for updates to the platform as well as API integrations to allow the wider community to create customized workflows.
We are a trusted contributor to the project, having submitted successful updates that integrate with our platform, as well as a bronze sponsor to support the continued development of the software.
