The Challenge
The AELTC, organizer of The Championships at Wimbledon, is responsible for bringing one of the most globally renowned tennis tournaments to audiences across the world.
With its two-week tournament fixed in the calendar every year, the AELTC must maximize its reach and engagement opportunities during this fortnight by activating audiences across broadcast, digital and social channels.
Engagement peaks when events are live, and during The Championships, its social and digital team are tasked with covering live tennis that takes place on up to 18 courts simultaneously.
The team needs to produce highlight clips and video packages from every court and deliver them to audiences on each of its social and digital channels, in real time and at scale.
The Workflow
Using Grabyo Studio, the social and digital team ingested live broadcast feeds from every court to create, edit and publish highlight clips to each of its social channels, website and app.
To manage and capture stories from multiple live feeds at once, the team used our multi-stream live clipping functionality, which allows a single editor to monitor and clip from up to nine feeds simultaneously. This streamlined clipping workflows for its editors and reduced the resources it needed to cover every court.
With our direct publishing integrations with all major social platforms, editors were able to publish clips to X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, YouTube and Instagram in moments. This ensured the official Wimbledon channels were first to market with content, establishing these channels as primary destinations for content on each platform.
The team also used Studio’s video markers to mark up live feeds for seamless retrieval of key moments when creating compilations or packages.
The Results
The AELTC activated audiences across every social platform by successfully delivering key moments from every match on its channels.
The frictionless workflows offered by Grabyo enabled its social and digital team to react and adapt to stories unfolding during every match, scaling its content production to meet demand with rapid social video.
The AELTC also built an organized archive of clips and videos created during The Championships, inserted with metadata for rapid retrieval, for use throughout the rest of the calendar year to maintain touchpoints with fans.
