The Challenge
Across Chile, broadcasters and media organizations compete in a crowded marketplace for viewer attention. To grow the reach of its content and drive viewership of its linear TV channels, Canal 13 needed to enhance its multi-platform video strategy.
With around 90% of the Chilean population using social media, it has become a vital channel for broadcasters in the country to engage audiences across the country.
Modern audiences in Latin America access video content across several platforms and devices, with a strong preference for mobile, social and online consumption. Traditional video workflows do not allow the agility and speed of publishing that social audiences demand.
The Solution
Since January 2023, the organization has used Grabyo Studio and Editor, our live clipping and editing tools, to create and publish highlights from various Canal 13 programming, including news, entertainment and flagship novelas.
Built on AWS technology using services such as Amazon EC2, AWS Elemental MediaConvert, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), AWS Fargate and many more, its team can ingest Canal 13’s linear broadcast feeds into Grabyo to create, edit and distribute clips.
Canal 13 activates audiences across multiple social media platforms to deliver vertical, square and horizontal content optimized for each platform.
The Results
Grabyo’s software has allowed Canal 13 to improve its workflow and reduce its time to create and deliver content – from 30 minutes to just a few minutes now. This new workflow allows the broadcaster to be more agile and aligned to the expectations of its digital and mobile audiences.
Our cloud-native system allows Canal 13’s team to collaborate using just a laptop and a stable internet connection, giving the broadcaster’s team more flexibility in remote working and production setups.
In the first 12 days of January, its videos published to Facebook have had over 6.4 million impressions and 2.7 million views, reflecting considerable virality and early success.
“We are excited to see this partnership drive our digital content capabilities to the next level. We know that Chilean audiences are increasingly turning to social media and online channels to consume content and look for what to watch next, and we need to get in front of them at the right time and in the right place.”
