Tag real-time clips on Twitter and Facebook using Grabyo Mentions

Tag real-time clips on Twitter and Facebook using Grabyo Mentions:

Tag real-time clips on Twitter and Facebook

Clip creation + sharing

  • Facebook Mentions support – including verified user flags (see video below)
  • Twitter @name auto-complete – including verified user flags (see video below)
  • Increased character limit for clip descriptions – up to 500 characters
  • Geo-blocking and geo-targeting for native FB videos (currently administered by Team Grabyo)
  • Improved drag & drop video upload for pre-recorded clips

Library

  • Library shows which platforms each clip has been shared to (eg. Facebook, Twitter)

General

  • UI enhancements

The addition of Facebook Mentions is particularly exciting as it increases the distribution and reach of clips. Followers of pages which are mentioned may see the clip in their timeline, even if they aren’t following the page which created the clip. We’ve created a brief video demonstrating how this works:

Increase clip views using Facebook autoplay + expanded Tweets

Both Facebook and Twitter have made significant steps forwards recently in increasing the user experience of video consumption when using their native players (at the expense of clips from other platforms such as YouTube) – driving up both clip views and engagement.

Grabyo Studio users are already taking advantage of these features to significantly increase the reach of their clips – such as Sky News across both Twitter and Facebook.

Below is a brief video showing you how autoplay videos appear in the Facebook news feed and expanded Tweets in the Twitter timeline.

Twitter iOS miniplayer launches – available on iOS

Today Twitter announced a small but important update – enabling users to view Grabyo clips in a mini-player whilst continuing to browse their Twitter feed. It’s currently only available on iOS – we hope to see Android support in the near future.

We love this new feature at Grabyo Towers – and for those of you who aren’t iPhone users we’ve created a short video showing you how this works, just to make you jealous:

AWS Meetup: Grabyo talks Redshift to power analytics for real-time video

Grabyo’s Mun and Isaac were on stage at last night’s AWS Meetup at Amazon HQ in London – talking about how Grabyo uses Redshift to power analytics for real-time video sharing.

Others presenting included The Guardian – sharing how they use Redshift in a batch environment, in contrast with Grabyo’s real time use. We were humbled by The Guardian’s volume of impressions but took solace in being a little younger than them…

Grabyo is one of the early adopters of AWS Kinesis – streaming data into Redshift in real-time. Breaking new ground is what keeps Team Grabyo hungry. See you at the next Meetup!
