We’ve crossed the pond! That’s right, O2 Media is taking Grabyo’s real-time video platform to the U.S. for the first time.It’s exciting news at Grabyo HQ – not only does it take us into the most developed market for real-time video but it also gives us access to O2 Media’s community of brands.
While ITV signed up to Twitter this week in the UK, all of the major networks are already signed up in the U.S. and we’ve seen some innovative partnerships as a result. This includes NFL taking control of its real-time video assets and striking its own sponsorship deals for its content.
Real-time video in the U.S. has shifted from teasers and trailers, the staple of YouTube channels built by the major networks, to premium broadcast content, including that which used to sit behind a paywall (such as Sports). This is indicative of content owners recognising that this new video format drives both incremental revenues and core KPIs (subs/tune in).
