On April 12th, Facebook announced Grabyo as an official live streaming partner. This means rights holders, broadcasters and publishers can use our platform to distribute broadcast-quality streams directly into the world’s largest social platform.
Since we began working with LaLiga in the summer of 2014, and after announcing an official partnership in November 2015, we have seen great success working with the premier Spanish football division. With over half a billion video impressions so far in 2016 and 80 million views, LaLiga uses social video to drive their social media strategy, build awareness and engagement with their global fan base, and use content from the league, teams and players to grow their audience.
Last week, LaLiga used Grabyo to broadcast live to Facebook and launch a key project LaLiga4Sports. The initiative aims to bring together a number of sports across Spain. LaLiga, as an innovative organisation, always want to provide sports fans with the very best content from the league – which has now grown beyond football.
LaLiga’s first Facebook Live stream was a huge success
The live broadcast lasted for 42 minutes and received a total of over 84,000 views. Broadcast on a page that started the day with 12,000 Likes – this means that the Facebook Live stream reached 550% more than the number of Likes on the page. After the event was broadcast directly to Facebook in real-time, the page gained over 6,000 Likes. In addition, the video generated nearly 2,700 comments, 70 shares, and over 1,500 reactions.
You can watch the LaLiga4sports stream here, as it lives on in Facebook as an archived video so you never miss huge events, even if you can not watch it live. LaLiga will be using Grabyo to broadcast their LaLiga Promises tournament in June. The previous tournament generated over 45 million video impressions for real-time highlights from the games – so broadcasting this live is an exciting step.
